A Pack of Aussies asks students to research information on one or two nominated people. Using a pack of cards, (or the cards template provided), children pick their own card. The card will correspond to the name of a particular person, which the children proceed to research. To encourage note-taking skills ahead of ‘cutting and pasting’, a worksheet is laid out under the headings of:
who, what, where, why and when.
Once organised, the activity can take place over an extended period as an individual or group activity. The final assessment task for this activity is determined by the teacher and could be:
– an oral presentation;
– a written report;
– a PowerPoint presentation.
A Pack of Aussies would be suitable for middle to upper primary classes.
